FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 29, Washington, D.C.

The Economic Impact of Ukrainian-American Businesses in the United States.

ISE Group and UACCI launch UA2USA Platform and Release Landmark Study on the Economic Impact of Ukrainian-American Businesses in the United States.

The Think Tank ISE Group, in partnership with the Ukrainian American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UACCI), has launched UA2USA, a “from evidence to action” platform designed to connect policymakers, investors, and communities with Ukrainian-founded businesses across America. The launch coincides with the release of the first national study, “The Economic Impact of Ukrainian-American Businesses in the United States,” presented at the Ukraine Action Summit in Washington, D.C., on October 25.

The study mapped and verified over 2,000 Ukrainian-founded firms across all 50 states and conducted an in-depth survey of business founders. It reveals a dynamic diaspora business landscape — diverse in industry, resilient amid global challenges, and strongly oriented toward growth.

For the first time, the research establishes a verified foundation for understanding how Ukrainian-American founded businesses contribute to the U.S. economy and local communities. The report identifies 2,270 verified firms as part of a broader network of more than 45,000 diaspora enterprises generating nearly $60 billion in annual revenue comparable to the GDP of North Dakota and supporting approximately 300,000 U.S. jobs.

Key findings include:

● Ukrainian-founded firms are especially strong in tech: IT alone accounts for about 130,000 jobs—nearly half of all employment in this business group.

● Businesses span a wide range of industries and services, reflecting the community’s entrepreneurial diversity.

● Over 90% of firms plan to expand, showing confidence in both their growth prospects and U.S. market opportunities.

● Firms displaced by the war in Ukraine face unique challenges but also demonstrate exceptional entrepreneurial energy.

● Ukrainian-run firms generate roughly $55–58 billion in annual sales, pay around $24 billion in wages, and contribute $8–9 billion in annual federal, state, and local taxes comparable to the annual general-fund budgets of several U.S. states.

“The study results are just the first step in a broader effort to empower Ukrainian-American entrepreneurs,” said Alexander Romanyshin, Board Member of the ISE Group, Ex. Dep. Minister of Economy of Ukraine presenting the findings at the Ukraine Action Summit. “Our goals are clear: recognition of their economic impact, access to capital and procurement opportunities, integration into U.S. policy and workforce programs, and building transatlantic partnerships that drive recovery and growth on both sides of the ocean.”

Olena Malytska, CEO of ISE Group, added:
“Visibility is practical. For many years, Ukrainian-founded companies in the U.S. were active but largely unseen in official statistics. UA2USA changes that by providing clear, reliable data by state and sector—so cities, investors, and business chambers know who these companies are, where they work, and what kinds of support make a real difference. It’s a simple idea: when contributions become visible, cooperation becomes easier and more effective.”

Eva Sigaev, President of UACCI, noted:
“This report gives Ukrainian-American entrepreneurship a measurable and verifiable voice in the U.S. economy. It demonstrates what we have long known anecdotally — that Ukrainian entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals contribute meaningfully to the economic and civic life of the United States. Now, through evidence, that contribution can inform policy, guide partnerships, and attract new opportunities for growth.”

Vitaly Goncharuk, a serial U.S. entrepreneur of Ukrainian origin, shared from his own experience how Ukrainian innovation strengthens the U.S. economy and national defense:

“Some defense technologies developed by Ukrainian engineers during the war, along with their operational experience, could prove extremely valuable to the United States in future conflicts. Even before 2022, Ukrainian companies were creating highly sophisticated solutions that were already being used in the defense and aviation sectors in the U.S. and Western Europe,” said Goncharuk, who sold his company, Augmented Pixels, a leading developer of AI-based autonomous navigation for drones, to Qualcomm in 2022.

“This study highlights an often-overlooked reality — that Ukrainian-founded businesses in the United States are not only driving growth in the USA and create jobs but also becoming trusted partners for America’s engagement in Ukraine’s innovative recovery. These companies understand both markets and have already earned the trust of local communities and the U.S. institutions. Through them, American capital and technology can safely and effectively contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction. It’s important to understand that everything we do together absolutely fits the guiding mission of American foreign policy: synergy of U.S. and Ukrainian interests make both our countries safer, stronger and our businesses more prosperous.” - Ihor Baranetskyi, Ph.D, Minister-Counsellor (economic issues), Embassy of Ukraine in the USA.

Marianna Tretiak, American Coalition for Ukraine, Chair of the Board, on importance of presenting the research findings to the Ukraine Action Summit delegates:

“Understanding the economic footprint of Ukrainian-American businesses is critical to ensuring that our community’s voice is represented in national economic and policy conversations. This research provides the foundation for advocacy rooted in facts and shows that Ukrainian innovation and resilience are already strengthening America from within.”

Methodology:
The study defines a “Ukrainian-American business” as any U.S.-based enterprise founded, co-founded, owned, or led by a person of Ukrainian origin (first or later generation). It combines American Community Survey data with verified company lists to model the total national footprint of roughly 45,000 Ukrainian-origin businesses in 2025. All figures are conservative estimates based on the best available data.
